A Cyberpunk Edgerunners AI prompt has to do three jobs at once: describe the show's hand-drawn look in detail, keep the person in the photo recognisable, and stage a specific shot. On Cyber Anime Filter that prompt is built in, so you upload a photo and type nothing. This page explains what it solves, in words. It does not print one. Make your Edgerunners style set from one photo.
What the prompt has to solve
- The look. Saying "cyberpunk anime" is not enough. The style of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a set of drawing decisions, and each one has to be stated or the model falls back on its own habits.
- Identity. Anime reduces a face to a few lines, so likeness has to be carried by hair, face shape, eye colour, skin tone, brows and expression, plus details such as glasses, facial hair or freckles. The description has to rank these above everything else and say that there is one person in the frame.
- The shot. A good image is a framed one. Each of the 4 images in a set has its own camera: a chest-up portrait, an action shot with foreshortening, a wide street scene with the figure small in it, and a low-angle key-art poster on a graphic background.
- The outfit and the place. Clothes, cyberware and location have to stay the same across all 4 images, or the set stops reading as one character.
The six parts of the look
Cyber Anime Filter measured its styles against frames of the series and describes the look in 6 parts. Leave one out and the result drifts.
| Part | What it means | What has to be described |
|---|---|---|
| Line | Ink that changes weight | Black outlines, thick on the outside of a figure and thin inside it, with corners instead of curves. Faces get a small nose and large, sharp eyes. |
| Colour | Flat fills, two tones | No gradients and no soft shading. Each area is one colour plus one hard-edged shadow, and shadows are purple or teal, never black. |
| Palette | Three loud colours | Classic neon styles use acid yellow, cyan and magenta over navy. Season 2 styles use one saturated colour per character against dust and daylight. |
| Light | A rim on each side | Faces are lit from two sides in two colours. Highlights on hair and metal are hard geometric blocks. |
| Chrome | Cyberware that fits the style | Seams on the cheek, a port behind the ear, a metal arm or hand. Drawn in flat grey planes with one highlight. |
| Finish | Print and tape marks | Halftone dots in the shadows and colour fringing on classic styles. Scan lines, dust and a viewfinder frame on Season 2 styles. |
Why season 2 needs its own description
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which starts on Netflix on October 20, 2026, does not look like the 2022 season. Its teasers show daylight where the first season had night, dust where it had rain, even ink lines and large flat areas in the manner of 1990s cel animation, cool purple shadows, and frames seen through a camcorder viewfinder with scan lines.
A description written for the neon look puts rain and magenta signs into a scene that should be dry and sunlit. So Cyber Anime Filter keeps two descriptions of the look: one for the 4 Classic neon styles and one for the 4 Season 2 look styles. The Edgerunners 2 filter page compares the two side by side.
Two portraits, two descriptions of the look. The sample photos are AI-generated models, not real people.
Why does a short copied prompt fail?
A line or two pasted into a general chatbot usually fails in one of four ways.
- It comes back as a generic sci-fi painting. With no drawing rules, an image model defaults to soft shading, gradients and a semi-realistic face. That is the opposite of flat cel colour and hard ink.
- It loses your face. If identity is not the first priority, the model draws its average anime face with your hair colour. A different haircut or eye colour is enough to make the picture someone else.
- It copies an existing character. Naming the show pulls the model toward the people in it. You get a jacket and a haircut that belong to a character from the series, with traces of you. The description has to rule that out.
- It adds stray text. Neon signs, graffiti and viewfinder frames invite invented letters, logos and watermarks. Signs have to be asked for as abstract shapes.
Fixing one of these tends to disturb another. Push the style harder and likeness drops. Push likeness harder and the result turns into a photo with a filter on it. The balance is found by testing, one style and one shot at a time.
What is built in here
On Cyber Anime Filter each render combines the description of the look, the identity rules, the outfit and scene of the style you chose, and the camera for each of the 4 shots. You see none of it and edit none of it. The choices are the style, out of 8, and the format.
The images are drawn by GPT Image, an AI image model made by OpenAI. The optional 10-second video is animated by Seedance 2.0 from ByteDance.
The limits are real. An AI model varies between renders, likeness is not guaranteed, and now and then a stray mark appears in a viewfinder frame. A set costs 1 credit, there is no free tier, and packs are on the pricing page. Independent fan-made tool. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CD PROJEKT RED, Studio TRIGGER or Netflix.
